Use what you have to have what you want
There are two ways that I mean this. The first being about upcycling and reusing things you already have, or have discovered second hand, to create something new. Be it a new skirt from a t-shirt or a bag from an old leather jacket, the resources are unlimited when it comes to what you can create. The second way I mean this is about using your own abilities and imagination to express yourself through your personal style. You are one of a kind (ooak) so should your style. There are so many simple skills you can learn in order to be empowered to dream up your next favorite outfit and make it real!
Evolve into your personal style
Personal style is one of the most important forms of self expression. Although you shouldn’t judge someone by their appearance, you can learn a lot about them via their style. The same is true about you for others. But as people, we change, we grow, we evolve. Our appearance should too. This is the secret meaning behind the word reFind. Because although it represents, actually “refinding” things to use , it also represents becoming a more refined you. From knowing which colors and cuts are most flattering, to setting trends and reinventing old ones.
Live luxuriously within your means
One of the biggest problems we are facing as a society today is living outside our means and mass consumption. There is pressure for more, bigger, more, extravagant and more, lavish coming from so many directions it’s easy to forget what you really want, and where your limits are. This one is really personal for me as I have worked hard to overcome my impulsive tendencies when it comes to material things. There comes a day when you realize how NOT luxurious piles of clothes and clutter feels. How stressed you are about money, having overspent on useless, unsatisfying things and how in a coma of wanting more, you lost sight of quality……When that day comes take a step back, and think about what really makes you feel rich and luxurious. For it is my personal experience that having fewer things, all of which I adore, that hold meaning and have a story, fill me up so much more than all of the cheap, meaningless crap I could get my hands on.
Stand out without standing apart
It’s so easy to feel like just one in a sea of millions, washed out by the bigger or shinier. It’s easy to feel like in order to be noticed or recognized you’d have to be in an empty room. This is one of the biggest misconceptions we can carry about ourselves, as there is nothing brighter or louder than being genuine and nothing more magnetic than being true to yourself in your own style.
Open eyes and turn heads.
Be provocative, Be inspiring. Be yourself.
